Not Just Books: This Week's Library Events

There are many things going on at both local libraries this week.

There is much more going on at your local library than just books being checked out.

Many residents are unaware of how much actually goes on at the local libraries. Also, most of the events at the Merrick Library and North Merrick Library are free to residents.

We're giving you a rundown of some highlighted events happening this week, but all of the library events can always be found on our events calendar.

On Tuesday the Merrick Library is hosting an AARP driver safety class from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For the kids, there is a Russian storytime at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday you and the little ones can enjoy a Mommy & Me class with a circus theme at 10:30 a.m at the Merrick Library. A little later in the day, at 2:30 p.m., there is a  also at the Merrick Library.

Volunteers can unite at the Merrick Library on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Help the Merrick Kiwanis Club by making blankets for cancer patients. 

On Thursday, get in shape with Tai Chi, by the Arthritis Foundation at 10:30 a.m. Get your blocks ready-  at 4 p.m. the Lego club meets at the North Merrick Library. 

On Saturday, children in grades 2-6 can sign up to read with a trained R.E.A.D member at the Merrick Library between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be a concert at the North Merrick Library at 2 in the afternoon. Solo Noi Tre, featuring the young couple Justine and Gary Lorentzson, will serenade you with many of your all-time favorites from opera to Broadway.
