Not Just Books: This Week's Library Events
There is a variety of things going on at the Merrick and North Merrick libraries this week.
Whether you're looking for a class for your tot, your teen or even yourself, both local libraries have much to offer residents this week–and most of it is free.
On Monday, there is a defensive driving class being offered at the Merrick Library at 7 p.m for $38. Over at the North Merrick Library, you can begin to register for a "gentle" beginner yoga class.
On Tuesday, Play Hooray meets for babies at 10:30 a.m. and for kids at 11:15 a.m. at the North Merrick Library. The Merrick Library Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, volunteers will be needed at the Merrick Library at 7 p.m. for "We Care" blanket making, which benefits children with cancer. Bookworms can unite at the Merrick Library at 2:30 p.m. for the monthly book discussion, which will talk about The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
On Thursday, head to the North Merrick Library at 1:30 p.m. for a showing of the film City Island. At 7:30 p.m. North Merrick will be rockin' to 1950s music with The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals.

Also on Thursday, the Teen Advisory Group meets at the Merrick Library at 4:15 p.m.
On Friday, kids can extend summer a bit as they make hot dog & hamburger shaped cookies at the North Merrick Library at 4 p.m. At the Merrick Library, the weekly film will be shown at 2 p.m.
