Pedestrian In Serious Condition After Minivan Crash Saturday Morning: Police

The woman was crossing East Merrick Road at the time of the crash, police say.

FREEPORT, NY. — A 60-year-old woman was in critical condition Saturday morning after a Toyota minivan struck her while she was crossing East Merrick Road, police said.

Nassau County police said that the woman was struck by the 2003 minivan as it was turning left onto East Merrick Road at 7:49 a.m. Saturday, suffering serious physical injuries and being taken to the hospital.

Police said the woman was in critical condition while the driver remained at the scene. Police did not report any arrests or charges related to the accident. Police did not identify the woman publicly Saturday.
