MERRICK, NY — A person was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train at the Merrick station on Friday morning, the MTA confirmed. The victim, who was unauthorized to be on the tracks, was hit at approximately 8:30 a.m., Dave Steckel, a spokesperson for the MTA said. The person was "removed alive" and taken to an area hospital," Steckel said his condition was not known. There were delays on the Babylon branch due to the incident.
