Person Struck By Train At Merrick LIRR Station 'Removed Alive': MTA

The Friday morning incident caused delays on the Babylon branch.

MERRICK, NY — A person was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train at the Merrick station on Friday morning, the MTA confirmed.

The victim, who was unauthorized to be on the tracks, was hit at approximately 8:30 a.m., Dave Steckel, a spokesperson for the MTA said.

The person was "removed alive" and taken to an area hospital," Steckel said his condition was not known.
