Police Charge Teen With Breaking Into 13 Cars Across Nassau
A witness saw suspicious activity and called police, which led to the man's arrest.

A Brooklyn man was arrested early Thursday morning by Nassau police and charged with breaking into multiple cars across the county.
According to police, a witness called the police at 4 a.m. Thursday after seeing suspicious activity on Central Avenue in Merrick. The witness saw footprints in the snow around parked cars, and also saw cars parked in driveways with the doors left open.
Police responded and searched the area and found Gregory Jackson, 18, of Stanley Avenue, hiding behind a bush on a dead-end road. When the police found him, they say Jackson got up and fled. The officers managed to chase him down and place him under arrest. Police say they found credit cards and drivers licenses on him, which they say were what he stole from the cars.
