Man Involved In 'Violent Domestic Disturbance' Shot Dead By Cops
Police say a call for a violent domestic disturbance ended in the death of a 43-year-old man.

UPDATE 8 P.M.: Nassau police say the shooting early Wednesday morning was the result of a violent domestic disturbance.
According to police, officers responded to the Murray Place home for a call of a violent domestic disturbance. Police say a 43-year-old man was shot and killed by police officers.
The New York Post reported that the man refused to drop a gun that he had been using to pistol-whip the mother of his young child.

“She was out on the street banging on neighbors’ doors, screaming for help,” a neighbor on the block said of the mother's actions before police arrived.
Police have not identified the man who was killed.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred early this morning in Merrick.
Police say that officers were called to a home on Murray Place at 1:45 a.m., where the shooting occurred.
Homicide detectives have been at the scene since the shooting occurred.
