Police Seeking Public's Help To ID Man Who Killed Nassau Teen

A man driving a red pickup truck fled the scene after striking an 18-year-old Thursday afternoon, police say.

Nassau County police held a press conference Friday afternoon to ask for the public's help to track down the man that ran over and killed 18-year-old Taranjit Parmar.

On Thursday evening, Parmar and the unidentified man were involved in a minor traffic accident. The two pulled over in front of a gas station on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. According to Det. Vincent Garcia, security video from the gas station showed Parmar getting out of her car and approaching the man in the pickup truck. He then took off, striking Parmar, and headed east on Hempstead Turnpike.

Garcia the only description police had of the man is that he was a middle-aged white man wearing a baseball cap. He was driving a mid-sized, four-door red pickup truck.
