UPDATE: Power Outages Reported in Merrick

Nearly 70 customers are affected with electrical outages.

As of Aug. 6 at 6:21 a.m., LIPA is reporting less than five customers in deep South Merrick remain without power. According to the outage map, The estimated restoration time is 11 a.m. Monday morning.

Many locals are without electricity in Merrick after the heavy rains rocked the area Sunday night.

According to the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) storm tracker, there are 67 active outages, as of 10:17 p.m. In Merrick, crews are working on power for those just south of the Merrick Road and Babylon Turnpike intersection. For the 36 customers affected, restoration time is estimated at about 1 a.m.

Another 44 customers are waiting for the lights to come on between Merrick Avenue and Meadowbrook Road. Not far away from that, 20 other customers are out near Sunrise Highway in Merrick as well. Both of those areas are not expected to receive power until early Monday morning.

Bellmore was relatively unaffected by the outages, as the only reported problem, according to LIPA, was near the southern tip of Bellmore, but the storm tracker reported less than five customers affected by electricity issues.
