Reign Continues to Thrive in Merrick

During a time where stores continue to struggle to remain in business, Reign has managed to thrive in Merrick.

Located at 2009 Merrick Road, Reign is the brainchild of Wendy Lombardo, who recently told Patch that she's increased the size of the store from 800 square feet to almost 2,000 square feet. The changes have allowed Lombardo to install more dressing rooms, and Reign is now more visible from the street.

"The expansion has been great," Lombardo said. "It's more room to have more products."

Lombardo said that she doesn't buy items in bulk, because she always likes to keep her inventory unique. This way, if someone comes into the store and then returns a couple of weeks later, they have new options to choose from.

"I'm constantly getting new merchandise in," Lombardo said. "I keep it fresh, so I only keep a certain amount of items in stock."

As to the key to her success in Merrick, Lombardo said that shoppers are looking for the best bang for their buck.

"I just keep prices reasonable," she said. "As far as all the clothing, everything is under $100."

Reign carries several lines of shoes as well, and some of them run north of the $100 mark.

Reign, which has been in Merrick for three years, and Lombardo said it's the perfect town for what she's trying to accomplish with the business.

"It's a great neighborhood," Lombardo said. "They pick up on what the newest trends are. I wanted people who were more interested in style like that."

Reign is open on Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Thursday and Friday, hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, doors are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday, the store operates from 12-5 p.m.

"Fashion is always changing," Lombardo said. "I try to follow as quickly as I can."
