Roosevelt Woman Faces Assault And Weapons Charges After Sunday Stabbing, Police Say

A 48-year-old woman is facing charges after shoving another woman to the ground and stabbing her, police say.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A 48-year-old Roosevelt woman is facing assault and weapons charges Monday after a verbal argument between her and another woman turned physical, police said.

Nassau County police said 48-year-old Marie-Lucie Auguste was in an argument with a 47-year-old woman Sunday at 12:14 p.m. when she punched the other woman in the face, shoved her to the ground and then stabbed her in the arm. Police said the stabbing caused a laceration to the 47-year-old’s arm.

Upon arrival after a 911 call from the 47-year-old, police arrested Auguste and took both her and the 47-year-old to a local hospital for evaluation, police said. August is scheduled for arraignment Monday, police said, facing a second-degree assault charge, a third-degree assault charge, a fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon charge and a second-degree menacing charge.
