Routine Traffic Stop Leads To Gun Arrest: Nassau Police
Police say they pulled over the man for failing to signal, and then found a gun in his car.

A Uniondale man was arrested on gun charges after a routine traffic stop Thursday evening.
According to police, officers pulled over a car on the corner of Jerusalem Avenue and Clarendon Road in Uniondale after it turned without signaling. When the officers approached the car, which was driven by Wendell Forrest, 37, of Fenimore Avenue, they allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Police say an investigation found a black semi-automatic Taurus 9mm handgun in the car. Forrest was arrested without incident.
Forest is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, second- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He was arraigned on Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
