Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Driver: Nassau Police

No charges have been filed as an investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing, police say.

FREEPORT, NY — A driver struck and killed a pedestrian early Monday morning.

The victim, 40, suffered severe trauma and died at the scene, Nassau police said.

An 18-year-old man was driving his 2015 Subaru eastbound when he hit a man walking near Hanse Avenue and Mill Road at about 1:30 a.m., according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The driver remained at the scene and his vehicle was impounded, police said.

Police did not announce any charges while they continue to investigate the incident.
