Father, 7-Year-Old Son From LI In Fatal New Rochelle Crash ID'd
Another 7-year-old remains in critical condition and his 11-year-old sister is recovering in the hospital, following the one-car crash.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The victims of a fatal car crash in New Rochelle early Sunday have been identified as members of a Long Island family.
The New Rochelle Police Department is still investigating the crash, which claimed the lives of a 37-year-old man and his 7-year-old son. The boy's 7-year-old twin brother and 11-year-old sister were critically injured.
The driver has been identified as Troy Carter, of Hempstead. The front seat passenger has been identified as 11-year-old Tiara Carter. She is said to have been critically injured but is recovering in the hospital. The backseat driver's side passenger Carmello Carter was also killed. His twin brother in the backseat passenger's side, Romello Carter is said to be in critical condition following emergency surgery.

The twins were students at Landing Elementary School in Glen Cove. Carmello Carter loved to play sports and was on the Glen Cove junior softball team and soccer team, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser, which had brought in nearly $18,000 as of Monday night for the family of the victims.

Just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, New Rochelle Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a car accident with injuries on Pelhamdale Avenue at the intersection with the Hutchinson River Parkway Northbound exit ramp. First responders found that the gray Nissan Altima had crashed into a brick retaining wall on the opposite side of the exit ramp.
The driver was declared dead at the scene. The three children were taken to the hospital where Carmello Carter was declared dead.
Accident investigators said they are awaiting medical and lab reports from the medical examiner. The investigation into the crash is ongoing and no details have been released about the cause of the one-car accident.
"The City of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Police and Fire Departments offer its sincere condolences to the family and friends of these victims," officials said in a statement announcing this weekend's tragedy.
