Search Ongoing For SUV Involved In Hit-And-Run That Injured Merrick Teens, Police Say
Two teenaged girls were hospitalized after an SUV struck them while they crossed Sunrise Highway, police say.

MERRICK, NY — Police are searching for the driver of a black SUV this week after the SUV was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left two teenaged girls hospitalized last month, police said.
Nassau County police said two girls— a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old — were crossing Sunrise Highway on Friday night, May 22, at 10:30 p.m. when they were struck by a dark-colored SUV. The man driving the car failed to exchange information with the girls and left the scene traveling eastbound, police said.
The girls were hospitalized and treated for minor injuries, while the search for the driver of the SUV remains ongoing, police said. Anyone with information on the SUV driver is encouraged to call crime stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, or call 911, police said.
