Sports Brief: Cougars Snag Second in Volleyball Tourney
Kennedy volleyball loses to Schreiber in championship match.
The Kennedy High School boys volleyball team finished in second place at a tournament held Saturday in Port Washington.
The Cougars split the first two games of the best-of-three championship against Schreiber, losing the first, 25-21, and taking the second, 25-23. But the Vikings regrouped and took home the title with a 15-9 victory in the third game.
"I am very proud of my team winning the second place trophy," Kennedy coach Allen Ma said. "They made it to the finals and played a great game."

Kennedy, the reigning county champions, took down Floral Park and Herricks without losing a set on its way to the finals. Schreiber beat East Meadow and Wantagh in a similar fashion, setting up the stellar championship match.
The Cougars will kick off the official start to the season next Thursday when they visit Roslyn at 5 p.m.
