"We offer a full range of hair services," he said. "Anything from haircuts, blowouts, Brazilian Keratin Treatments – you name it. We're also one of only two authorized salons in south Nassau County to carry L'oreal Kerastase products."
Despite the current recession taking its toll on small business owners left and right, Heras and his wife are nonetheless stepping into this venture with a high degree of confidence.
"Fear is definitely lurking...after all, this is a new business, and the economy is the way it is," he said. "But we felt that, with my wife’s following and her many years of experience in Merrick, she'd be already established before we even opened."
Heras’ confidence was also possibly bolstered by the support shown for his business by Merrick Chamber of Commerce president Randy Shotland.
"Every new business is a good business," he said. "It promotes the town's economic growth and development, and we find that when we work as a team, it works better than as individuals. So, we promote all of our businesses to the point of success."
But in the end, Heras just hopes to be able to bring out the inner beauty of all his clients.
"This is Beautiful People Salon, that's our logo here," he said. "Just come in here and show us how beautiful we can make you."
