Swirlz World to Make Home in Former Caputo's Cards Space

New frozen yogurt shop will offer a place where "the most important thing is fun."

Although many people don't think of opening a frozen yogurt shop when satisfying their sweet tooth, Jordan Eddi did – and he is bringing his creation to Merrick.

"We live in Merrick and I am in the jewelry retail business. I wanted to add some diversity to my business and we wanted to open a local business out here," Eddi said.

With the closure of Caputo's Cards and the empty space it left, Eddi had all the inspiration he needed to create the local business he wanted. Swirlz World, Eddi's new venture, is scheduled to open this spring.

Although Merrick has several frozen yogurt shops already – including TCBY, Moolala and the newly-opened Red Mango – Eddi pointed out that there is nothing on the north side of town that fills the void for froyo lovers.

"We thought that Swirlz World would be a great addition for the people around the area," he said.

In addition to selling frozen yogurt, Swirlz World will boast a candy wall that can be used for toppings or can be sold by the pound. In addition, Eddi plans to put lighting effects in to make it a "fun place" for the community.

"Merrick deserves a top-notch yogurt place, although Swirlz World will be more like a dessert emporium," said Eddi.
