The office of Immigration &amp; Refugee Services is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice to counsel, process, file, and represent clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and EOIR Immigration Court. Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. ROOSEVELT, NY - A taxi driver was shot in the face by two men who assaulted him in Roosevelt on Wednesday night, according to Nassau County Police.After responding to 36 Jefferson Avenue to pick up a fare at about 9:15 p.m., the 42-year-old male driver for New York Taxi of Roosevelt was approached by two men who entered the rear of the taxi, police said. After he got in a verbal argument with the men, they exited the taxi, went to the driver's door and opened it, according to police. A physical confrontation ensued and the driver was then shot in the face causing a serious eye injury, police said.The man, who was transported to an area hospital for treatment, could only further describe the men as wearing black masks covering their faces and dark colored clothing.Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
