Troop 225 Hosts Food Drive

Boy Scouts, Troop 225, Merrick, NY, Food Drive

On Sunday, November 4, 2016, Boy Scout Troop 225 was stationed outside of Stop and Shop in Merrick Mall with the hopes of stocking the Food Pantry at Cure of Ars Church. The boys and their parents spent the day from 8am – 2pm, collecting donations of non perishable food items, paper goods, baby supplies and more! The boys’ expectations were exceeded due to the overwhelming generosity of the community and the people that reside within. One gentleman donated an entire cart full of food! Troop 225 also collected more than $150 in cash that they used to buy more food and supplies for the cause. Every donation made a difference! At the end of the day, there were three very large truck loads of donations that were brought to Cure’ of Ars. These items will stock up the food pantry which helps locals who are in need. A big thank you to Stop and Shop for allowing the boys to run the Food Drive at their store! If you saw them and donated, they are grateful for your donation! If you missed them, no worries! The boys will take up their cause once again on Thanksgiving morning from 8-12 at the same location for their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Cure of Ars food pantry! They look forward to seeing you again!
