Two Injured After Man Suffers Heart Attack While Driving

Police say the driver hit a pedestrian, then drove into a house.

Two men were seriously hurt after one man drove into another before hitting a house in Elmont Sunday morning.

According to police, a 40-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk on Covert Avenue at 11 a.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Chrysler that was being driven by a 60-year-old man. After hitting the pedestrian, the car drove through the fence of a home on Covert Avenue, then through the fence of a home on Bedford Avenue, and came to a stop after hitting the front stoop of the house on Bedford Avenue.

Police say the driver of the car had suffered a heart attack, which caused the crash. The driver was taken to a hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The pedestrian was also taken to a hospital for treatment of upper and lower back injuries. He is in stable condition.
