WEEKLY RECAP: Faith the Dog, Making Merrick Safer, New Principal

Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Names New Principal: Cynthia Strait Regal, deputy superintendent for the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, announced that a new principal has been picked for Grand Avenue School in Bellmore. Starting in July, Carlo Conte, current assistant principal at Calhoun High School, will be stepping into the new position.

2. Faith the Dog Brings Lessons of Acceptance to North Merrick: The students of the North Merrick School District learned valuable lessons this past week: They learned about acceptance, perseverance and positive thinking. And they learned it from Faith the Dog.

1. Improving the quality of life in South Merrick was top of mind at Tuesday's South Merrick Community Civic Association's meeting. With two new members as well as Legis. Dave Denenberg and Brian Schneider from the department of public works in tow, attendees discussed a variety of issues, from policing to pedestrian walkways.
