Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Names New Merrick Avenue Principal: Recently, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District announced that Dr. Meador Pratt, current assistant principal of Kennedy High School, will take on a new role with the distict as principal of Merrick Avenue School. Pratt will start in his new position on July 1. He replaces Caryn Blum who was tapped by the district to be the new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, replacing Richard Rozakis. Blum will also begin her new role on July 1.

2. Merrick Man Robbed at Train Station: A man was robbed while waiting for a train at the Merrick train station on Sunday, News12.com reported. MTA police say two men, one armed with a knife, forced the victim to hand over hundreds of dollars. Cops are still looking for the suspects.

1. Sunrise Highway Closed After Child Falls Out of Vehicle: The westbound Sunrise Highway near the Meadowbrook Parkway has reopened around 7 p.m. after a child fell out of a car, police said. Authorities said that they do not know the extent of the child's injuries.
