• Middle Island man killed in Rocky Point wrong-way crash, police say (newsday.com) — A 44-year-old Middle Island man, David Maiman, died Wednesday after his Lexus crossed into oncoming traffic on Rocky Point Yaphank Road and struck a Jeep, police said. The Jeep's driver, from Port Jefferson, suffered minor injuries, and Suffolk detectives are asking anyone with information about the Middle Island resident's fatal crash to call the Seventh Squad as their investigation continues.
   

• Siblings Jemmal and Keana Bryan, charged in Queens drug trafficking operation that led to fatal overdose on Long Island, Nassau DA says (newsday.com) — A major Nassau County drug trafficking case with ties across Long Island now includes charges against 38-year-old Middle Island resident Ian Sharkey, who faces drug possession counts but denies selling narcotics. Prosecutors say the alleged ring, led by Queens siblings Jemmal and Keana Bryan, distributed fentanyl and xylazine in several communities, while Sharkey's attorney insists his Middle Island client plans to fight the accusations in court.
