1 Airlifted After Crash With Tractor-Trailer During Police Chase

After suffering a partially amputated hand and several fractures, he was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.

TOWN OF WALLKILL, NY — The Town of Wallkill Police Department said that a person was seriously injured in a motor vehicle collision on Wednesday.

At 2:42 a.m., police officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was traveling at high speed near East Main Street and Midway Park Drive.

The driver, 36-year-old Kevin Pawlak, of Monroe, tried to flee from police, and collided with a tractor-trailer near exit 122A and Route 17E, according to officials.

After suffering a partially amputated hand and several fractures, Pawlak was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center where he is currently in stable condition.

New York State Police accident reconstruction is assisting with the investigation.
