1-Car Crash Claims Life Of Dutchess County Man

The sheriff's office said that speed was thought to be the cause of the crash.

UNION VALE, NY — A Dutchess County resident was killed in a one-car crash Saturday in the town of Union Vale.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said the fatal crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Verbank Club Road in Union Vale.

Deputies who responded to Verbank Club Road near North Clove Road found that a 2021 Audi Q5 driven by Avinash Harrindranauth, 28, of Union Vale, failed to negotiate a hill and slight curve in the road.

The car left the roadway and struck a tree, authorities said.

Harrindranauth, who was the only person in the car, was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The sheriff's office said the crash is still under investigation by the Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit, but at this time, unsafe speed was thought to be a primary factor.

Assisting at the scene were the New York State Police, Union Vale Fire Department, LaGrange Fire Department and EMStar.

More information may be released as it becomes available, the sheriff's office said.
