1 Dead, 2 Injured In 4-Car Crash After Police Chase

Police initially responded to a report of an erratic driver.

LLOYD, NY — State police are investigation an accident in the Town of Lloyd Sunday in which one woman was killed and two other people were injured after a police chase. Around 7:30 p.m., the Town of Lloyd Police Department responded to a report of an erratic operator.

A Lloyd police officer located the car — a 2008 Porsche Cayenne — and tried to get the driver to stop.

The driver did not comply and fled westbound on State Route 299 at a high rate of speed, police said.

Members of the state police assisted Lloyd police with the pursuit.

Police said, as the Porsche approached the intersection at South Street, it struck the side of a 2008 Ford.

The Porsche then crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck a 2018 Ford pickup head on.

A 2016 Toyota then struck the rear of the Porsche.

The Porsche’s driver — Ryan B. Williams, 20, of Poughkeepsie — was taken to Westchester Medical Center and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Danielle M. Pecoraro, 39, of New Paltz, the driver of the 2018 Ford pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The passenger in Pecorao’s truck, Mercedes Rosato, 24, of New Paltz, was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Police said the investigation is ongoing with the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, where criminal charges are pending.
