1 Dead In 3-Car Hudson Valley Crash

Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

RHINEBECK, NY — A Hyde Park man was killed in a crash that involved three vehicles.

The New York State Police said the crash occurred Monday on Route 9G in the town of Rhinebeck.

The initial investigation found Jared T. Hammerling, 29, of Hyde Park, was driving a 1997 Honda Civic north on Route 9G south of Slate Quarry Road.

For reasons that are not known, police said he crossed the double yellow lines and struck a southbound 2018 Subaru Outback, which was then rear-ended by a 2019 Honda Ridgeline.

Hammerling was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Outback were taken by EMS to MidHudson Regional Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
