1 Killed In 3-Vehicle Newburgh Crash
Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
NEWBURGH, NY — A Dutchess County man was killed as a result of a three-vehicle crash Tuesday in the Town of Newburgh. State police said the incident happened eastbound on I-84 near the I-87 on-ramp.
The initial investigation found that a Toyota Sienna was traveling in the left lane eastbound on I-84 and slowed down for unknown reasons.
The Sienna was struck in the rear by a U-Haul truck also traveling east.

The U-Haul truck was then struck by a Mercedes Sprinter van, police said.
The driver of the van, Kenneth Kear, 60, of Wappingers Falls, was injured in the crash. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Orange Lake Fire Department and take to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall, where he was pronounced dead.

Jerry Candeleria-Martinez, 27, of Wallkill, was driving the Toyota and was taken to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall for evaluation.
The driver of the U-Haul and the passenger were not injured.
Everyone was wearing seatbelts, police, and the investigation is ongoing.
