13-Year-Old Behind Wheel When Honda Strikes Home, Kills 35-Year-Old
New York State Police said the teen was backing the minivan into a driveway when something went tragically wrong in Kiryas Joel.

KIRYAS JOEL, NY — A familiar rite of passage went horribly wrong at a Hudson Valley home, leaving one man dead.
On Tuesday at 8:54 p.m., troopers from the Monroe barracks were called to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the village of Kiryas Joel in the town of Monroe.
Police say a 13-year-old was backing a 2024 Honda Odyssey into the driveway of a home. While attempting to back the minivan into the spot, the child rapidly accelerated striking the victim identified as Abraham Moskovits, age 36, of Kiryas Joel and the home, according to troopers

Moskovits was extricated from underneath the vehicle. EMS performed lifesaving measures and Moskovits was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Rockland County, where he later died.
