2 To 5 Inches Of Snow Forecast For Mid-Hudson Valley: NWS

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in advance of the massive storm headed toward the eastern seaboard. The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Friday for western Columbia, eastern Ulster and western Dutchess counties.

Snow and blowing snow is expected. Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute Thursday. In addition, areas of poor visibility are expected.

Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected, the NWS said.

Snowfall rates around half an inch per hour are anticipated. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.
