2 Arrested On Kidnapping, Menacing Charges In Columbia County

Police said a woman was brought from Massachusetts to New York where she was held against her will.

NEW LEBANON, NY — State Police arrested a Massachusetts man and Columbia County woman July 27 on kidnapping charges. Police said Charles L. Tabon, 38, of Pittsfield, MA was charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, felonies, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

Also charged was Megan L. Vanduesen, 28, of New Lebanon. She faces second-degree kidnapping and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, felonies.

Troopers were dispatched around 12:50 a.m. July 27 to a report of a woman being held against her will at a New Lebanon residence.

Police said an investigation found that the woman was allegedly brought to the residence from Pittsfield, MA where an altercation then took place and she was allegedly menaced with a handgun.

During the investigation, Troopers located and arrested Tabon and Vandeusen.

They were arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.

The pair is scheduled to appear in New Lebanon Court July 31.
