2 Arrested For Passing Drugs In Jail

One of the men was visiting the other who was in jail.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Two men were arrested for allegedly passing drugs while being held in the Dutchess County Jail. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said Matthew S. Moore, 34, of Pine Plains, and Jeremy M. Craft, 28, of Hyde Park, were arrested after Moore visited Craft, who was an inmate at the jail, and passed a controlled substance to him.

The incident occurred June 15.

The sheriff’s office said Moore was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, felonies.

Craft was charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.

After processing, Moore was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
