2 Arrested For Selling Alcohol To A Minor
The New York State Police targeted 15 stores in Dutchess County in an underage drinking enforcement operation.
DUTCHESS COUNTY, NY — Two store clerks were accused of selling alcohol to a someone under 21 in a sting operation in Dutchess County earlier in August. The New York State Police checked 15 stores Aug. 20 in an underage drinking enforcement operation where an underage volunteer tried to buy alcohol under the observation of plainclothes investigators and uniformed troopers.
Police said 13 store clerks refused to sell booze to the volunteer. Two clerks did, however, and were arrested.
Khaliluddin Khan, 60, Dover Plains, an employee of Sunoco Gas Station, 3195 Route 22 in Dover Plains, was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Dover Court Sept. 17.

Wendy Huzzy, 45, of Millbrook, an employee of Berkshire Wine and Liquor, 3238 Route 22 in Dover Plains was also issued an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Dover Court Sept. 14.
Both were charged with prohibited sale of alcohol to a minor, a misdemeanor. Additionally, their employers face possible civil penalties imposed by the State Liquor Authority.

The state police said they routinely use underage drinking enforcement operations throughout the state to curb alcohol abuse and DWI incidents involving teenagers.
