2 Charged with Child Endangerment After Drug Overdose
Two were arrested, but police said a third arrest is pending.

CANAAN, NY — A drug overdose led police to arrest a Columbia County couple for child endangerment.
On September 9, State Police charged Nicholas Palermo, 37, and Brittney L. McMullen, 26, both of Claverack, with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
Police responded September 2 to a reported drug overdose at the Berkshire Travel Lodge in the Town of Canaan.

An investigation found that Palermo and McMullen had used narcotics while in the presence of a 3-year-old child, police said.

Police said an additional arrest is pending.

Palermo and McMullen were issued appearance tickets to return to the Town of Canaan Justice Court September 22.
