2 Killed In Orange County 2-Car Crash
Police said the crash happened Wednesday on Route 17 near exit 119 in the town of Wallkill
WALLKILL, NY — Two people were killed in a two-car crash Wednesday on Route 17 in the town of Wallkill.
The New York State Police said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Route 17 at the Sands Road Overpass near exit 119.
Police said a 2004 Toyota Sienna driven by Nelson Vivarcampoverde, 48, of Middletown, was traveling in the passing lane of Route 17 next to a 2005 Ford Escape, driven by Anthony K. Jones, 24, of Walden, which was in the right lane.

According to authorities, the cars collided, causing the Ford to leave the roadway, strike an earth embankment and overturn.
The Toyota entered the center median, struck the guiderail and turned over before coming to rest on the westbound median, police said.

Vivarcampoverde and one of his passengers, Maria Abrigo, 36, of Middletown, were ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers in the Toyota were flown from the scene to Westchester Medical Center due to the nature of their injuries.
The remaining four passengers were taken by ambulance to Garnet Health Medical Center with serious injuries.
Jones was also taken to Garnet where he was treated for minor injuries.
Police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
