2 Men Arrested Trying To Bring Drugs Into Prison

Both men were sent to jail without the possibility of bail.

FISHKILL, NY — Two men are facing charges that they attempted to bring contraband into a prison. State police said Kennard Blount, 40, of New Windsor, was charged with fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, first-degree promoting prison contraband and fourth-degree conspiracy, all felonies.

John E. Walden, 66, of the Bronx, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband, both felonies, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Police said, on Sept. 8, investigators from the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigators contacted the state police regarding the two men who allegedly tried to bring contraband into Fishkill Correctional Facility.

The investigation found that Walden attempted to bring 30 dosage units of suboxone into the prison.

Also, the investigation found Blount conspired with Walden and supplied the controlled substance.

The men were arrested Sept. 12.

Blount was arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Court; Walden, in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court.

They were both sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail and are scheduled to appear in the Town of Fishkill Court Sept. 17
