2 Shooting Incidents Under Investigation In Poughkeepsie

In one, a man was shot in the foot, but police said he did not cooperate with the investigation.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Two gun-related incidents in the city of Poughkeepsie were reported Monday.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department said in a news release that around 2 p.m. officers responded to Kaal Rock Park for a report of shots fired.

A person who was shot was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in a private vehicle.

Detectives and officers went to the hospital and found a 27-year-old man who suffered a single gunshot to the foot.

He refused to cooperate with the investigation, police said.

Crime scene technicians went to the park to gather evidence and found a vehicle that sustained damage from multiple bullet strikes. The vehicle was impounded for investigation.

Later in the day, around 9:15 p.m., there was another report of shots fired in the area of Hudson Garden Apartments.

Police said no apparent victims were found, but, while canvassing the area, officers located five unoccupied cars that had been struck by gunfire near the Hudson Avenue basketball courts.

Numerous shell casings were collected in the area of Weed Street and Hudson Avenue, police said.

Investigations for both incidents are ongoing.
