21-Year-Old Gets 6 Years For Slashing Victim's Face From Behind On The Street In Newburgh
"This defendant's behavior constituted life altering acts of violence," DA Hoovler said, announcing the sentence.

CITY OF NEWBURGH, NY — A cowardly act that changed the victim's life will now cost the perpetrator years of his life.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler says that 21-year-old Dave Fulford, of Newburgh, was sentenced on March 11, to six years in prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision, after previously pleading guilty to first-degree attempted assault.

According to court documents, on September 3, around 7:40 p.m., Fulford ran up to a man from behind on Van Ness Street, in the City of Newburgh, and slashed him once on the face with a sharp object.
The victim received a large laceration during the attack that required stitches.

Fulford later admitted to police that he slashed the victim. During plea proceedings, he admitted to attempting to cause serious physical injury to the victim while using a dangerous instrument.
DA Hoovler thanked the City of Newburgh Police Department for their investigation which led to the arrest of Fulford.
"Violent offenders need to be held accountable for their crimes," Hoovler said. "This defendant's behavior constituted life altering acts of violence. The thorough investigation completed by police in this case ensured that this defendant was brought to justice. Our community is safer with this violent offender incarcerated under the terms of the sentence imposed by the court."
