3 Arrested For Stealing From Churches: Police

Police said the trio stole collection boxes, candles and other property from multiple churches.

CATSKILL, NY — Three Greene County residents face burglary charges after being arrested for stealing from area churches. State Police at Catskill said Reginald Bonneau, 30, and April Smith, 18, both from Cairo, and Jennifer Hall, 33, of Greenville, were taken into custody as a result of an ongoing investigation into the thefts.

The trio is accused of allegedly entering churches in Durham, Greenville, Windham and Catskill and stealing collection boxes, candles and other property. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Hall and Smith were charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, felonies, and Bonneau was charged with nine counts of third-degree burglary. Further charges are pending, police said.

Smith and Hall were arraigned in the Town of Cairo Court and sent to the Greene County Jail on $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond.

Bonneau was arraigned in the Town of Catskill Court and sent to the Greene County Jail without bail.

State Police were assisted by the Greene County District Attorney’s Office, Greene County Probation, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Windham Police Department, the Town of Durham Police Department and the Town of Cairo Police Department.
