34-Year-Old Arrested In June 2024 Double Shooting That Left 1 Dead
A 25-year-old City of Newburgh resident died as a result of a gunshot wound, while a second victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

CITY OF NEWBURGH, NY — An Orange County man has been arrested in the investigation into a double shooting that left one wounded and one victim dead.
The City of Newburgh Police Department says that detectives arrested 34-year-old Qaadir J. Smith, of the City of Newburgh, last Thursday, in connection with a homicide at 7 Monument Street, on June 8, 2024.
A 25-year-old City of Newburgh resident died as a result of a gunshot wound, while a second victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

Police say the arrest followed an intensive response from the City of Newburgh Detective Division, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Orange County District Attorney's office, and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
Smith was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was being held pending arraignment in City Court.
