4 Injured In Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer In Ulster

Police said the tractor-trailer rear-ended a passenger vehicle which started a chain reaction with two other cars.

SAUGERTIES, NY — Four people were injured in a four-vehicle crash Monday on Interstate 87.

The New York State Police said the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. Monday in the town of Saugerties.

A preliminary investigation determined a tractor-trailer driver rear-ended a passenger vehicle which then caused a chain reaction involving two other cars.

Police said one passenger was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and three other people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Authorities said all lanes of the Thruway between exits 19 (Kingston) and 20 (Saugerties) were closed to allow the helicopter to land. All lanes are now reopened.
