4 Queens Residents Accused Of Having 17 Pounds Of Pot

They were initially pulled over on the Taconic State Parkway for a traffic violation.

GALLATIN, NY — Four people from Queens were arrested in Columbia County Monday and charged with drug possession after a traffic stop. State police said, around 2 a.m. May 21, a 2011 Nissan was pulled over for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Gallatin, Columbia County.

Police said they found about 17 pounds of marijuana in the car.

Kevin M. Perez, 24, Jonathan H. Hernandez, 24, Tatiana Lopez, 22, and Kevin Mendez, 22, all from Queens, were arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony.

All four were arraigned in the Gallatin Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond each.

They are scheduled to reappear in court May 23.
