61-Year-Old Exposed Himself In Front Of Teen At Route 22 Supermarket Parking Lot: Sheriff

PATTERSON, NY — An arrest has been made in connection to an outlandish act of public lewdness, according to authorities in Putnam County.

Sheriff Brian Hess announced the arrest of 61-year-old Richard S. Davis, of Pawling, following a months-long investigation conducted by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation into the public lewdness incident that took place in the Town of Patterson.

The investigation began on Feb. 21, after the Putnam County Sheriff's Office received a report that a man had exposed himself and engaged in a lewd act while parked in the Acme supermarket parking lot on Route 22.

Two occupants of a nearby vehicle reported witnessing the suspect intentionally exposing himself and masturbating while looking toward their occupied car. One of the witnesses was under the age of 17.

Through a dogged investigation, Davis was eventually identified as the suspect.

On Friday, investigators located Davis in the Town of Southeast and took him into custody. Davis was charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Patterson Court at a later date.
