75-Year-Old Accused Of Killing 90-Year-Old In Sullivan County

LIBERTY, NY — A 90-year-old Sullivan County woman is dead and a 75-year-old man was accused of killing her.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, the New York State Police in Liberty responded to a 911 call for a possible homicide at 305 Harris Rd. in the town of Liberty.

Troopers found Louisa S. Butler, 90, dead inside the home, police said.

As a result of an investigation, James M. Brodie, 75, of Liberty, was charged with second-degree murder, a felony.

He was arraigned in the Town of Thompson Court and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.

Brodie will next appear in court Dec. 2.

The investigation was conducted by the state police with the assistance of the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.
