Alzheimer's Association to offer program for caregivers

"Living with Alzheimers: For Middle-Stage Caregivers" will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Sunshine Adult Day Care.

NEWBURGH - The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter will offer the following program in the weeks ahead: “Living with Alzheimers: For Middle-Stage Caregivers” will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, and Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Sunshine Adult Day Care, 608 Broadway, Newburgh.

In the middle stage of Alzheimer’s disease, those who were care partners now become hands-on caregivers. This program will present helpful strategies for providing safe, effective and comfortable care during this stage of Alzheimer’s.

“Caregiving for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia is challenging, but we want caregivers to know they’re not alone,” said Donna Davies, a care consultant and senior director of programs and services for the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter.

Caregivers are welcome to come to one part or both.”

The program includes dinner, and preregistration is required. People interested in attending should call 800.272.3900 at least two days ahead to RSVP.
