Alzheimer's Association to offer symposium for millennials
"Millennials Against Alzheimer's" set for April 9 at Dominican College

ORANGEBURG - The Alzheimer’s Association will hold a free event, “Millennials Against Alzheimer’s: A Symposium” at the Granito Center at Dominican College at 470 Western Highway at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9.
This event will explore the younger adult caregiver experience with dementia and provide information about helpful community resources. The keynote speaker, Dr. Jennie Valles, will offer an overview of the disease, including risk factors and diagnosis. Her talk will be followed by a panel discussion featuring two young adult caregivers who will share their experiences dealing with Alzheimer’s disease.
“This event is an opportunity for us to highlight the experience of young caregivers who otherwise may not have an opportunity to share their experience. The event is by millennials, for millennials,” said Jonelle Ward, director of outreach for the Alzheimer’s Association and the program organizer. Ward also noted that this event is part of a grant funded initiative to reach millennials, an often overlooked caregiver audience.
