American Brain Society Founded by Hudson Valley Resident

A Crisis In America. ABS is on a mission to end the suffering, by finding treatments and cures for brain and mental health disorders.

(American Brain Society)

American Brain Society (ABS) has grown from the vision of its founder J.A. Boulton, a longtime resident of Hudson Valley, NY. Mr. Boulton envisions ABS as a critical resource in the ever-growing field of brain diseases and mental health disorders. Brain diseases are unseen threats, that wreak havoc and are difficult to understand. They attack every family in one way or another, creating a national health crisis. Mr. Boulton, whose family has been personally affected by brain disorders, is on a crusade to end the suffering caused by these diseases and disorders.

The mission of ABS is to find treatments and cures for brain diseases by educating the public, supporting those affected, and funding innovative research. ABS received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2018.

In 2019, ABS launched its website to answer questions those affected are facing, educate the public, and raise awareness. ABS has published scientific information on 34 brain diseases including 54 educational articles and videos.

ABS bridges the gap between those who know–the scientists looking for cures–and those who need to know–the families affected. To date, ABS has raised $51,000 in support of the following research projects: Psilocybin & Depression, Anorexia Nervosa, Parkinson’s, Psilocybin & Alcoholism, and PTSD. Doctors conducting the research are from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, NYU Langone Health, and Yale University School of Medicine.
