NEWBURGH, NY — A Hudson Valley man, who preyed on vulnerable children online, will go to prison.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, announced on Friday that 24-year-old Carsen Mansfield, of Newburgh, was sentenced to six years in prison after previously pleading guilty to receipt and distribution of child sex abuse material, and extortionate interstate communications.
In addition to the prison term, Mansfield was sentenced to five years of supervised release.
"Carsen Mansfield didn't just traffic in sexually explicit images and videos of children — he threatened them to create more," Clayton said. "In a city where kids are online every day, that kind of conduct is especially dangerous, and we will go after anyone who uses the internet to prey on them. New Yorkers want their children protected from this heinous conduct and we're listening."
According to court documents, on August 1, 2024, Mansfield used the username "expogirlsss" while communicating with a person on X (then Twitter). They discussed exchanging sexually explicit content with each other.

Mansfield said, "[b]et and is there anything you'd like to trade in return? Or just take a look?" The person replied, "just take a look and if I like I'll maybee trade." Mansfield then replied, "[o]kay, I'll send some tonight."
Mansfield then sent the person two videos, one of which was of a topless woman, who he described as his "sister," on her knees with a penis in her mouth. Prosecutors noted that the woman, who is not Mansfield's sister, told them that the video was shared without her consent.
The person then messaged Mansfield, "u expose ppl?" He then replied, "[y]eah I do, but upon request."
Mansfield then sent the person around seven additional videos and five images, one of which was a sexually explicit video of a minor, fully naked and masturbating.
Mansfield then messaged the person, "[u] got anything for me or nah? I was really hoping for at least a lil sum."
Mansfield had originally received the video of the minor on SnapChat from the minor victim, who confirmed that Mansfield had shared the video without her consent.
On August 4, 2024, Mansfield communicated on Discord with another minor, who was located in Michigan.
Using the username "nonme45.#0," Mansfield sent the second minor victim several sexually explicit photographs of the minor when the minor victim was 14 years old.
After sending the second minor victim the photos, Mansfield then demanded the minor send him additional sexually explicit material. He threatened that if the minor did not send him additional content, then he would release the nude photos of the minor.
Mansfield responded, "[w]ell I have these pictures and if you don't send me more I'm going to send them to your friends and family." He added, "[y]our my slut now [and] failure to make me happy will end up exposed to your friends and family."
The minor victim told Mansfield that she was not going to send him pictures and asked him to delete them. He replied that he was "gonna pay you to make some stuff for me while I had these pics," and "[b]ut if you don't wanna do stuff I'll just post everything it's fine."
The minor victim asked Mansfield why he was threatening her. He replied, "I love power, and tbh most of the time I do this to sisters of people to get videos of them sucking off their brothers but you are an exception."
Clayton praised the efforts of the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, the Detroit Field Office, and the Town of Newburgh Police Department.
The prosecution is being handled by the Office's White Plains Division, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patricia M. Reville and Margaret Vasu in charge of the prosecution.
