MIDDLETOWN, NY — A tip has led to the arrest of a Hudson Valley man on child sexual exploitation charges, according to police.
The New York State Police says that the Troop F Computer Crimes unit arrested 20-year-old Alexis J. Rios Mendez, of Middletown, on May 1, on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Rios Mendez was charged with three felony counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age (possess or access); and three felony counts of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age.
The investigation began on April 18, after a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led to the execution of a search warrant at the Rios Mendez home in Middletown, on May 1.
The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Troop F Child Abuse Unit, State Police Middletown Barracks, and the FBI.
Rios Mendez was arraigned at the Middletown City Court Central Arraignment Part and remanded to the Orange County Jail pending a future court date.
