HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Summer-like heat will be blanketing the Hudson Valley region for the first part of the week, then storms Wednesday will be followed by a cooler pattern, according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service predicts the current unseasonably warm temperatures will last through Wednesday, with highs across the area in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Both Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with precipitation, including thunderstorms, predicted for Wednesday.
“A cold front on Wednesday will bring showers and thunderstorms followed by cooler high temperatures in the 60s by Thursday,” the National Weather Service said.
Air quality alerts are in place until 11 p.m. today due to ground level ozone, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. It recommends limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity, particularly for anyone with pre-existing respiratory issues.
Both Thursday and Friday are expected to be sunny and cooler, with highs in the upper 60s to around 70, according to the National Weather Service.
The holiday weekend will have similar temperatures, though it may have a rainy start, with showers likely both Saturday and Sunday.
